Your Competitive Edge

People skills can be your competitive edge in life and at work. They can separate you from others who can technically do what you do or intellectually know what you know. They are skills such as having a positive approach to issues, clearly communicating, a sense of humor and working with people to get the job done. They can help separate you from the herd and be heard!

On May 4th, may the force of positivity be with you! We are positive when we discover constructive and productive approaches to issues. It allows us to realistically make the best out of situations. And if you can make the best out of a situation you can also make the jest out of the situation.

Respond don’t React

Life isn’t so much about what happens to us, it is about how we respond to what happens to us. When we respond it is a choice we make among options. When we react it is a reflex we make without much thought. Laughter is a choice. It gives perspective and enables us to positivity respond not negatively react.

Either Or, or Either And?

Life and business are about options. How we choose them helps to determine if we are productive and successful. Either Or thinking is limited. Not negatively to wear you down. It is like a spice. A little stress can go a long way, but too much can overdue it and you. Healthy humour helps dissolve excessive amounts of stress.

Re-Treat

I just led a leadership retreat. The whole idea was to withdraw. At retreats we withdraw away from something which can lead us towards something else. This helps to change our perspective. A renewed or new perspective can result. BTW, we had fun and lots of laughs making it a re-Treat and a reward for the leadership team!

Creativity is how we implement new approaches which lead to innovation. The next time you have to think creatively, begin by remembering something funny and start laughing. See what positive perspectives may result!

Universally Funny?

Albert Einstein once said: ‘The most important question a person can ask is, “Is the Universe a friendly place?’ Now, I’m no Einstein but I think the question to ask is, “Is the Universe a funny place?’Humor is all about how you look at the world or in this case the universe. It is a matter of perspective. How do you look at life?
